Research progress on the efficacy of taurine and its application in the health food
As an essential amino acid,taurine is widely found in the heart,retina and other tissues,and plays a very crucial role in the body.In recent years,with the in-depth study of taurine,it is found that taurine mainly exists in meat and seafood and has many biological effects,so it has been widely used in health food as an additive raw material.This paper introduced the main sources of taurine,summarized its various physiological functions and mechanisms,including enhancing immunity,relieving fatigue,protecting the nervous system,improving memory and so on as well as safety evaluation based on domestic and foreign literature.Through searching and extracting the databases of"Special Food Information Query Platform"and"Medicine Intelligence Network",analyzed the health functions,dosage forms,approval times,regional distribution of health foods approved for adding taurine,summarized the application status of taurine in the health food market in China,aiming to provide reference for the in-depth exploration of taurine's health functions and the development and utilization of related health foods.
