Study on Hypoglycemic Activity of Lycium barbarum Polysaccharides
In this study, the inhibitory rates of α-amylase and α-glucosidase activities of Lycium barbarum polysaccharide(LBP)at different concentrations were measured in vitro, and the rat type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2MD)model was constructed by STZ.The rats were randomly divided into control group, model group, high, medium and low dose LBP groups(concentrations of 20,40 and 80 mg/mL).After continuous intragastric administration for 8 weekends, body mass, water intake, fasting blood glucose, oral glucose tolerance test, area under blood glucose curve, serum oxidation index and insulin release test were determined. This study was in order to explore the mechanism of hypoglycemic activity of LBP.The results showed that LBP could effectively inhibit α-amylase and α-glucosidase activities.Fasting blood glucose and water intake of T2MD rats were decreased, body mass was increased, and T2MD symptoms were improved.Improve oxidative stress levels and islet function.LBP could exert hypoglycemic activity and had the potential to prevent and improve the symptoms of T2MD,which provided a theoretical basis for the development of diabetes drugs and health food to prevent diabetes in the future.
