Effect of Proliferation and Apoptosis of Phloretin on the Lung Cancer Cells
The effect of phloretin on the proliferation and apoptosis of human lung cancer cell line A549 was investigated.A549 cells were treated with different concentrations of phloretin, and the cytotoxicity, morphology, apoptosis rate, cell cycle, mitochondrial membrane potential and intracellular calcium homeostasis were analyzed. The results showed that phloretin inhibited cell proliferation and induced morphological changes of apoptosis in a concentration and time dependent manner. The cells were arrested in the G1 phase of the cell cycle, the mitochondrial membrane potential was decreased, the intracellular free calcium ion content was increased, and the calcium ion homeostasis was disturbed.Phloretin disrupted the cell cycle, mitochondrial function and intracellular calcium homeostasis in A549 cells.
