Evaluation of Antioxidant and Hypoglycemic Activities of Flavonol Extracts from Mulberry at Different Development Stages
The aim of this experiment was to study the antioxidant activity, hypoglycemic activity and the relationship between flavonol extracts and flavonols in different development stages of Morula and Fructus alba. The antioxidant activity, hypoglycemic activity and flavonol content of flavonol extract of mulberry fruit at young, transcolor and mature stages were determined, and the correlation analysis was carried out.The results showed that the antioxidant activity and hypoglycemic activity were the best in mature period of mulberry.Flavonol content was significantly positively correlated with DPPH free radical elimination rate,ABTS free radical clearance rate and hydroxyl free radical clearance rate(P<0.05),and was also significantly positively correlated with α-amylase inhibition rate and α-glucosidase inhibition rate(P<0.05).The results of this study provided a scientific basis for the selection of varieties, periods and processing methods of mulberry homologous products with antioxidant and hypoglycemic activities.
