Effect of the Phascolosoma esculenta Peptide on the Growth of Probiotics
Probiotics are known as the guardians of the intestinal tract. It plays a beneficial role in improving gastrointestinal tract health. The peptide of Phascolosoma esculenta was used as raw material, and the effect of the peptide of Phascolosoma esculenta on the growth of Lactobacillus plantarum,Streptococcus thermophilus,Clostridium tyrobutyricum, and Bifidobacterium adolescentis was evaluated in this research.Additionally, the tolerance of these four probiotics in the simulated gastrointestinal fluid was investigated. The results showed that the peptide of Phascolosoma esculenta could increase the population of Clostridium tyrobutyricum, and Bifidobacterium adolescentis. The peptide of Phascolosoma esculenta could inhibit the decrease in the population of Bifidobacterium adolescentis in the fluid environment of the stomach in vitro. This study could provide theoretical bases for developing marine peptides as functional foods in the food industry.
