Research Progress of Medicinal and Edible Herbs against Hyperuricemia
With the improvement of people's living standards,hyperuricemia has become the second largest metabolic disease in China,and has gradually received attention from the Chinese people.In addition to the effectiveness of drug treatment for hyperuricemia,the safety of drugs is also a key concern for everyone,and the properties of medicinal and edible herbs are relatively consistent with these two characteristics.On November 17,2023,the National Health Commission and the State Administration for Market Regulation issued Document No.9 of 2023,titled"Announcement on the addition of 9 new substances,including Codonopsis pilosula,which are both food and traditional Chinese medicinal",includes Codonopsis pilosula,Cistanche deserticola(desert),Dendrobium officinale,American ginseng,Astragalus membranaceus,Ganoderma lucidum,Cornus officinalis,Gastrodia elata,and Eucommia ulmoides leaves,which are medicinal and food homologous medicinal materials.Through searching and analyzing domestic and foreign literature in recent years from databases such as CNKI and PubMed,it is found that 8 medicinal and edible homologous herbs have the effectiveinreducingserumuricacid except for American ginseng.This article elaborates on the uric acid lowering function and mechanism of action of 8 newly approved medicinal and edible homologous herbs,laying a foundation for exploring new functions of medicinal and edible homologous herbs,and providing a theoretical basis for the development and clinical application of health foods.
