Determination of dextran in sugarcane juice by improved haze method
With the purpose of rapid and accurate determination of dextran in sugarcane juice, the traditional haze method was modified. Amylase and dextranase were used to degrade the starch and dextran in sugarcane juice. With starch & dextran-free sugarcane juice as blank control, the dextran content in sugarcane juice were determined. The result proved that the standard deviation was 2.95% and the rate of recovery of the method was between 94.2%-96.7%. The results showed that the accuracy were better than the traditional haze method in the experiment. The method overcomed the disadvantages of other testing methods, simplified the experimental procedures, accelerated the experimental progress, provided a new way of real-time detection of dextran in sugarcane juice in sugar mill.
