Real-time PCR Assay of Trace Buckwheat (Fagopyrum spp.) in Foods
z A real-time PCR method for the detection of trace buckwheat in foods was established using forward and reverse primers and probe corresponding to the internal transcribed spacer region (ITS) and the 5.8S rRNA gene. The method was buckwheat-specific and compatible with both cultivated and wild buckwheat of the Fagopyrum spp. Its sensitivity was sufficient to detect 0.1 μg/kg of buckwheat DNA spiked in wheat DNA.
