Plants of muskmelon were sprayed with 0.05,0.5,5.0 g/L of oligochitosan at four times of plant melon: young fruit period, fruit enlarging period, netting period and 48h before picking, respectively. The impact of different concentration of oligochitosan treatment on the storage quality of muskmelon was studied. The post-harvest muskmelon were storage at (7±1)℃,85%RH. The weight-loss of rate, firmness, soluble solids, titratable acid, ascorbic acid content, incidence of disease and disease index of muskmelon fruits were measured regularly. The results showed that the declining of firmness and the increasing rate of weight loss of muskmelon fruit were inhibited by 0.5 g/L of oligochitosan treatment. Besides , the degradation of soluble solids , titratable acid, ascorbic acid content, the incidence of disease and the disease index were efficiently inhibited by 0.5 g/L of oligochitosan treatment.
