Epidemiological characteristics analysis of fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome in Laizhou city from 2010 to 2022
Objective To understand the epidemiological patterns of severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome(SFTS)and provide scientific basis for prevention and control efforts.Methods Data on FTS outbreaks in Laizhou city from 2010 to 2022 were collected.Descriptive epidemiological methods were used to analyze the epidemic situation,spatial distribu-tion,and meteorological characteristics of SFTS.Seasonal distribution was analyzed using concentration analysis.Results From 2010 to 2022,Laizhou city reported a total of 350 cases of SFTS,with an annual incidence rate of 3.17 per 100 000 population.There were 46 deaths,with a case fatality rate of 13.14%.The high incidence season was from May to October,accounting for 98.29%of the total cases.SFTS cases were reported in 17 towns and streets in Laizhou city,with the majority of cases in the southeastern mountainous areas,such as Yidao town,Chengguo town,Guojiadian town,and Zacun town,which accounted for 65.00%of the total reported cases.The male-to-female ratio was 1:1.03,97.14%of the cases were over 40 years old.The primary occupation of cases was farmers,accounting for 90.29%.The average temperature from May to October was 22.86 ℃,with an average precipitation of 91.63 mm.Both temperature and precipitation were linearly correlated with the incidence of SFTS.Conclusions SFTS in Laizhou city exhibited highly scattered outbreaks with regional variation.The high-incidence season from May to October was closely related to the lo-cal temperature and precipitation,which are favorable conditions for tick growth and reproduction.It is recommended to raise domestic animals,conduct environmental management,tick control,health education,strengthen healthcare person-nel training,and health risk communication to reduce the case fatality rate.
