Discussion on Han Yu's Views of Poetry and His Creative Practice
The"acknowledgement"in Hanyu's views of Poetics is manifested as respecting the classical status of The Book of Songs, not denying the farfetched analogies drawn from original stories in Poetic Preface of Mao,and agreeing to"directly express the actual meaning"and"convey meaning through hidden language".Therefore,he quoted The Book of Songs in his creations, expressing the true situation in a tactful way to inform the monarch. The"changes"in Han Yu's views of Poetics are manifested as his criticism of Zixia's Poetic Preface, and his cau-tious awareness of the description of"deleting poetry".The"new changes"in his views of Poetics serve the pursuit of"comparing sages",which were nurtured by his skeptical thinking, straightforward personality, and official expe-rience.Therefore,in his creations,he paid more attention to"strengthening moral education and cultivating peo-ple",and"alleviating sadness and dispelling sadness",which had effectively promoted the transition and transfor-mation of the study of The Book of Songs in Tang and Song dynasties, and influenced the changes in the Poetics thinking and creative practice in the early period of the Northern Song Dynasty.
