"Quan"(全)and the Justification of Supportive Behaviour:A Revision of"Zhuzi Style"Account
What reason do we have to justify the idea that providing assistance to people in need is morally right?Dr.Quan Linqiang believes that the solutions provided by both externalism and internalism in moral psychology have flaws,and thus invokes Zhu Xi's thoughts to construct a"Zhuzi Style"account to answer the question.However,this"Zhuzi style"account is still insufficient,because its justification of supportive behaviour fails in some specific cases.In this regard,based on Zhu Xis thoughts of"quan"(全),"Zhuzi style"account needs to be supplemented with an exclusion mechanism for private thoughts and desires.This work reveals that in the contemporary philosophical per-spective,there are still many thinking resources worth further exploration in the thinking direction of Zhu Xis ethics represented by"quan"(全).
