Communication of Seclusion Complex:Tao Yuanming Narration in Jiaxuan's Ci Writings
Among the existing 629 Ci writings by Jiaxuan,56 are directly related to Tao Yuanming.Readers can quickly find Tao Yuanming narration in Jiaxuan Ci writings from such marks as Tao's name,Tao's poems,imagery of wine,pine and chrysanthemum,and love of chrysanthemum and wine.Jiaxuan Ci has three basic narrative modes:narration,which objec-tively recreates the events of Yuanming;performance,which elaborates and interprets the events of Yuanming;and deliber-ation,which evaluates the events of Yuanming.In these three narration modes,the autho'rs involvement in the narration in-creases in turn,and the objective narration is gradually transformed into subjective perception and deliberation,as well as the stratification of the narration and the intention of the narration are gradually clarified.In his Chouzeng Ci writings,Jiaxuan associates the addressee(the sender of Thank-you Ci writing)with Yuanming,constructing a situation of seclusion commu-nication,realizing the intention of explaining to the addressee the state of seclusion mind,and expressing his condolences and praises.In his Seclusion Ci writing,Jiaxuan associates Yuanming with his own situation of advancement and retreat and his own state of self-adapting mind,highlighting the changes in his own state of seclusion mind and realizing his communicative intention of explaining his understanding of the realm of seclusion to the ideal reader(Tao Yuanming).In order to show his incorruptibility and seclusion,and to prove that he did not desire fame and wealth,Jia Xuan shows the truth,goodness and beauty of incorruptibility and seclusion with the narration of Tao's chrysanthemum and Tao's wine,and explains his accept-ance of the seclusion culture of Yuanming to the real readers(current and later readers).The study of Tao Yuanming narra-tion in Jiaxuan Ci writings from the perspective of communicative narration helps promote the study of Ci-style allusion narra-tion,deepen the understanding of Jiaxuan Ci's seclusion sentiment,and explain the acceptance of Chinese seclusion culture.
