On the Integration of Calligraphy Education and the Education of Traditional Literature and History
In the newly issued Catalog of Disciplines and Specialties of Postgraduate Education,"Fine Arts and Calligraphy"is listed as the first-level discipline, which has ushered in a brand-new opportunity for the development of calligraphy, and, meanwhile, has also put forward higher requirements for the current higher education of calligra-phy.At present, higher calligraphy education tends to pay more attention to writing skills than cultural inheritance.Actually, calligraphy is an integral part of traditional cultural learning, and higher education of calligraphy needs to be further integrated with traditional literature and history education to embark on the road of connotative development. The necessity of combining the two is determined by the educational goals and characteristics of the disciplines. The content of the combination needs to involve various courses related to literature and history. The path of the combina-tion includes the vision, teaching materials, teachers, curriculum, teaching process, and so on.The significance of the combination is to realize the depth of the educational goals and to guarantee the sustainable and healthy develop-ment of the disciplines.
