Traditional Educational Thought and Modernization of Higher Education——taking Zhu Xi and Wang Yangming as examples
Traditional educational thought is an important part of the excellent traditional Chinese culture, and the modernization of higher education cannot ignore the combination with traditional educational thought.Zhu Xi's Neo-Confucianism system and Wang Yangming's mind study system contain educational thoughts with historical penetra-tion,and they both regard"making human moralities understood"as the purpose of education, and attach importance to the key value of moral education in human growth and development.Zhu Xi focuses on the importance of exploring the nature and law of everything through reading, while Wang Yangming focuses on the importance of exercising one-self through specific tasks and unity of knowledge and action. The modernization of traditional educational thought and the modernization of Chinese higher education are united in the modernization of human beings.Specifically,in order to better implement the fundamental task of cultivating people with moral integrity, higher education should focus on the"six efforts",draw nutrients from traditional educational ideas such as Zhu Xi's Neo-Confucianism and Wang Yangming's mind study, and vigorously cultivate the ability of new-age college students to explore the nature and law of everything by reading and to unite knowledge and action.
