The Desperate Housewife:Studies on the Narratives and Aesthetic in Ouyang Yuqian's Drama Pan-Jinlian
This article takes Ouyang Yuqian's Pan-Jinlian as a case study,to discuss the narratives and aesthetics theories from the perspective of cross-cultural studies.Ouyang spared no efforts in re-imaging and re-creating a non-wanton Pan-Jinlian and expressed his eagerness for the liberation of the personalities and gender equality,which were the core values of the May Fourth Period.Ouyang used a fresh and bold narrative to glorify the beauty of Pan and help her escape from the humiliation of femme fatale.The research also analyzed the history of Ouyang's overseas studies in Tokyo and his learnings from Japanese theaters.
