Posthuman Dilemma and Redemption:Apocalyptic Narrative Ethics in Oryx and Crake
In her novel Oryx and Crake,Margaret Atwood describes the survival dilemma, ethical alienation and spiritual crisis faced by posthuman beings before the ecological disaster,as well as after the apocalyptic catastrophe, and the possibility of posthuman self-redemption.In the novel, the posthuman's"imperial mode of living"not only intensifies the ecological crisis and social crisis, but also foreshadows the ethical alienation. The concept of rational omnipotence causes the endless spiritual decadence. As the only survivor in the apocalypse, how to rebuild the ethical order of the new world is not only the survival strategy of Snowman(Jimmy),but also the ultimate mission of posthuman's self-redemption.
