Based on the population and GDP data from 2008 to 2013 in the counties of Ningxia,the regional differences and pattern evolution of the population and economic distribution in Ningxia were studied by means of Arcgis1 0.0 software.The results show that:(1) The unbalanced indexes of population and economy Ningxia distribution of 2008-2013 are positive.There is a significant positive correlation between regional population and economy.Regional population and economic structure have a trend of convergence.(2) The overall pattern of the geographical concentration of population of 2008-2013 doesn't change much.The areas with high concentration index are mainly distributed in the capital city of Yinchuan and in the city of Shizuishan,the northern part of the mineral resources.(3) The polarization effect of economic geography is significantly greater than the agglomeration effect of the population and there is some correlation between these two.(4) In 2008-2013,the number of area of which populationand economy are basically consistent in Ningxia increases.But the population is still higher than the economic agglomeration.
