The impact of urbanization of oasis and returning farmland to grassland on ecosystem service value:A case study of Wuwei City
The paper focuses on the characters of oasis land exploitation changes and its impact on ecosystem service values with the background of returning farmland to grassland and urbanization based on the 2010-2018 land exploitation data. The results showed that:(1)unexploited land and grassland were the maid types of lands in Wuwei oasis, and during the research grassland, urbanization land, transportation land, water regions and water conservancy facilities land were increasing while farmland, garden land, forests and unexploited land were decreasing, which meant more farmland, garden land and forests were turning into grassland, urbanization land and industry construction land.(2)Between 2010 and 2018 the ecosystem gross values of Wuwei City were decreasing except for that grassland and water regions were increasing while the ecosystem service values of the lands of other types were decreasing,of which forests and grassland ecosystem service values took up a high ratio by more than 71%which mainly contributed to the ecosystem service values and the changes on the areas of farmland and forests were the main reasons for the decrease on Wuwei City ecosystem service gross values.(3)In total the ecological benefits of Wuwei City during 2010-2018 were low and the policy of returning farmland to grassland and urbanization were carried out, which had a explicit effect on the ecosystem gross values. There exists a broad prospect on the unexploited lands and water region lands, which needs further steps for the optimizing the structure of land exploitation and further actions on the management of desertification and conservation of ecology of unexploited lands, which will enhance the sustainable development of economy and ecology conservation.
