Progress on the role and regulatory mechanism of nitric oxide in autism
Nitric oxide(NO)is an important biological signaling molecule, which plays an important role in human physiology and pathology.Autism spectrum disorder(ASD)is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder with unknown etiology. At present, abnormal levels of NO have been found in ASD patients, but what role NO plays in the etiology of ASD is still unclear. This arti-cle focuses on the physiological function of NO,and explores how NO is involved in the regulation of ASD pathogenesis through a variety of pathogenic risk factors of ASD.Through mechanism exploration,it provides new ideas for the etiology of ASD and new targets for the treatment of ASD.The regulation of NO on the pathogenesis of ASD provides theoretical support for the diag-nosis and treatment of ASD.
