Research on Geometric Morphometric Method Used for Insects Classification and Identification: Relative Warp Analysis
Geometric morphometric focuses on topology information of biological morphology, which is nothing to do with the size and shape factors of insect specimen. As exploration of methodology, relative warp analysis was used to realize the visualization of insect classification and discrimination in this paper.Vein images from six kinds of moths which belonged to Noctuidae,Lepidopter were used as material. On the first step, landmarks were extracted from right front wings of six kinds of moths by using the software TpsDig2.On the second step,to eliminate the superfluous information resulted from non-shape factors, the software TpsSuper was applied to accomplish the procrustes superimposition analysis to coordinates of landmarks. On the last step, the software TpsRelw was used to carry out relative warps analysis, which provided images to achieve the two-dimension visualization of insect classification and discrimination more intuitively. The results indicated that a sort of feasible method was put forward to achieve visualization of insect classification and discrimination in this paper, which was highly important for visualization application of morphological measurement data used for insect classification and discrimination.
