Determination of D-mannitol in cultivated Cordyceps sinensis
To provide a basis for medicinal value of cultivated Cordyceps sinensis, mannitol was separated by water extraction and cen-trifugation. The compound ( 3 ,5-diacetyl-l ,4-dehydro-dimethylpyridine ) obtained by the reaction of NaIO4 and C6 H12 06 had the largest absorption at wave length of 412 nm. The absorbance values( OD412 value ) and mannitol concentration showed a good linearity at the range of 10 - 50 mg/L. The linear equation is C = 79. 172x - 0. 0713( r = 0. 9999 ). The contents of mannitol in cultivated Cordyceps sinensis were 89. 64 mg/g( 2005a, cultivated ), 91. 86 mg/g( 2006a, cultivated ), 94. 71 mg/g( 2007a, cultivated ), 98. 98 mg/g( 2008a, cultivated), 97.50 mg/g ( 2009a, cultivated ), 94.71 mg/g( 2008a, wild ) and 96. 84 mg/g( 2008 a, wild ), respectively. The results showed the mannitol content of the cultivated Cordyceps sinensis was equal roughly to the wild Cordyceps sinensis.
