Reasearch on the Impact of Carbon Emission Reduction Empowered by the Development of the Digital Economy
The digital economy is a new driving force for economic and social development and plays an important role in promoting the realization of the"double carbon"goal.Using the digital economy development index and carbon emission intensity data of each province,we empirically examine the effect of carbon emission reduction em-powered by digital economy development.The study shows that the development of digital economy can effectively reduce carbon emissions and promote carbon emission reduction,and exhibits certain regional heterogeneity and policy heterogeneity.Further mechanism test found that the digital economy can reduce carbon emissions by impro-ving the level of social and economic development,reducing the level of energy consumption,and adjusting the structure of energy production.Therefore,the development of digital economy can effectively promote carbon emis-sion reduction,and it is necessary to vigorously develop the digital economy,strengthen digital infrastructure,help realize the"double carbon"goal,and realize the green and sustainable development of the economy.
