Review and Prospect of the Development of Semiotics in China
The study of semiotics in China started in the early 1980s,relatively later than the West,but it has made remarkable development in more than 50 years.The development of semiotics in China is divided into three key stages:the initial stage of depen-dence on the"Western schools"(1981-1986),the stable development stage of the integration of Chinese and western semiotics schools(1987-1993),and the comprehensive development stage of the establishment of a Sinicized semiotics system(1994-pres-ent).At present,the theoretical research of semiotics and the applied research of semiotics in our country have gained international recognition,and we are actively building a Chinese symbolics school that carries Chinese culture.Although the research of semiotics in China is still faced with the difficulties of insufficient monographs,few professional journals,and no clear and unified academic definition,the research of semiotics in China is overcoming the difficulties and making steady progress.
