The semantics of Systemic Functional Linguistics(SFL)converges with Marxism in three aspects.In terms of"mean-ing as social practice",meaning is controlled by social context and recreates new social realities.Regarding"monism between mean-ing and consciousness",meaning cannot be created and used without the speakers'consciousness.From the perspective of"the inter-play between meaning and ideology",meaning is controlled by the dominant ideology and reacts to it.Such a dialectical relation ex-ists between the fundamentals of Marxim and the semantics of SFL,showing the Marxist orientation in semantics of SFL.
