The zero starting point sign for the construction of the Great Wall No.1 tourist highway is set near Laoniuwanbao in Pianguan County,Shanxi Province.Taking this as a reference for historical research,the starting point of the Shanxi Ming Great Wall recognized during the Ming and Qing dynasties was not at Laoniuwan,but at the Shiti Pass in Hequ County.The side walls built along the Yellow River in Pianguan County and Hequ County,as part of the Shanxi Ming Great Wall,along with military fortresses,beacon towers,and pass remains,have created a rich landscape of military relics of the Great Wall.It is one of the important areas that should be emphasized in the construction of the Great Wall National Cultural Park(Shanxi section).The relics of the Yellow Riv-er side wall have great potential for exploring landscape resources and are worthy of diversified and scientific protection and develop-ment,promoting the comprehensive construction of the Great Wall National Cultural Park(Shanxi section).
