Artistic and Cultural Characteristics of the Vajra Throne Pagoda of the Yungang Grottoes
The Vajra throne Buddha Tower in Cave 6 of Yungang Grottoes is the earliest Vajra Throne Pagoda built by royal de-cree in China.It witnesses the development process of Chinese pagodas that combine east and west,and have a profound influence on the construction of a series of Vajra Throne Pagodas during the Northern Dynasties period and beyond.From the origin and influ-ence of this pagoda,which not only inherits the five pagodas of the Indian Buddha Gaya Pagoda in shape,and is the re-creation of Chinese and foreign integration with Vajra Tower elements.It is also unique in Chinese grottoes.It provides valuable information for us to study the Chinese ancient Vajra pagoda.
