Whether and how language-pair factors affect simultaneous interpreting(SI)process has long been a subject of de-bate.The comprehension process in SI differs from that of monolingual understanding. Its multitasking nature causes interpreters to be interfered from the source language's linguistic forms at various levels.Although the surface structure of source language infor-mation is transformed into a deep structure through mental modeling, the connotations it represents are imprinted with linguistic and cultural specificity, thus cannot be completely detached from the source language. The specificity differences between language pairs pose varying degrees of challenges to cognitive load in SI,as is evidenced in the research results that language pairs with significant-ly different syntactic structures present greater difficulties than those with similar structures.
