Simulation and Control of Groundwater Contamination in an Informal Landfills
To study the environmental and economic effects of urban landfill engineering, taking a landfill engineering project in a certain urban area of northern Anhui province as an example,a three-dimensional coupled numerical model of groundwater seepage and solute migration was established using GMS software. The trend of pollution diffusion and the effect of natural attenuation in the later stage were considered,By simulating the migration process of Cl-in groundwater after leakage of landfill leachate and under different pollution prevention and control engineering measures, the effectiveness, engineering quantity, cost and other indicators were compared, and reasonable suggestions were proposed. The results show that under natural conditions, the migration distance after 20 years is about 400 meters, reaching the drinking water wells in the downstream urban area; When HDPE geomembrane bentonite is used for vertical anti-seepage curtain engineering, and HDPE geomembrane is used for ground sealing, the Cl-concentration in regional monitoring wells is lower than the class III standard value of groundwater, and the control effect is significant.By comparing and analyzing the effects, quantities, and economic costs of different engineering measures,it is ultimately recommended to adopt a combination scheme of HDPE geomembrane for ground sealing and HDPE geomembrane bentonite as the vertical anti-seepage curtain for downstream areas.
