Technical Methods and Application Research on Detailed Investigation-Assessment and Risk Control of Groundwater Environment in Chemical Industry Park
Soil and groundwater pollution issues in some chemical industrial parks in China are prominent, posing significant environmental risks, which necessitates enhanced water environment management. In response to the characteristics of groundwater contamination in chemical industrial parks and the current state of research both domestically and internationally, this paper develops a technical methodology for detailed investigation, assessment, and risk control of the groundwater environment in such parks following the framework of"pollution investigation, risk assessment, control and remediation, and post management",and this technology method was applied in a chemical industrial park in the Yangtze River basin for practical use.During the pollution investigation phase, the approach combines preliminary screening with detailed investigation to identify key regulatory targets and formulate rectification plans, thereby controlling pollution at its source, and the investigation area is hierarchically divided according to need, and a principle for subzone sampling locations is established to meet investigation requirements while avoiding excessive monitoring wells that could create environmental risks and increase costs. In the risk assessment phase, the methodology takes into account both groundwater pollutants and human health risks in an integrated manner.During the control and remediation phase, based on human health risk assessment, groundwater contaminant diffusion simulation and prediction evaluation results, reasonable short-term and long-term control objectives are determined to avoid over remediation. In the post management phase, groundwater risk control is coordinated with hazard screening, environmental monitoring, and enforcement supervision to achieve comprehensive ecological environmental management throughout the entire chain of operations in the chemical industrial park.
