On the Intelligent Prosecution Paths for Sentence Reduction and Parole Cases in the Context of Digital Prosecution:A Case Study in S Province
Sentence reduction and parole are important components of criminal enforcement system in China.Procuratorial organs at all levels apply digital technology to promote the effectiveness of the sentence-reduction and parole system,so as to further enhance the quality of procuratorial supervision.Empirical studies showed that the application of sentence reduction and parole policies is character-ized by a low ratio,inconsistent gate-keeping standards,and high requirements,and that the procuratorial authorities have problems dur-ing the case-handling process in terms of a weak foundation for ex ante review,a lack of depth during the review,and insufficient con-frontation in ex post review.Procuratorial authorities at all levels should improve the intelligent prosecution system for sentence reduction and parole in four areas:promoting the improvement of the legal system for criminal enforcement;strengthening the construction of teams and operational capacity;enhancing the quality and effectiveness of prosecutorial work in the supervision of sentence reduction and parole;and building an intelligent governance system for criminal enforcement.
