This study focuses on the latent fingerprint development of different substances on the surface of different objects by ap-plying red iron oxide powder as the developing agent.For the latent sebum fingerprints and grease fingerprints,the development is bet-ter;for the latent fingerprints on the non-permeable objects such as tiles and glasses,the development is also clear and can be shown for 7 days.Compared to the traditional powders,the red iron oxide powder is more applicable and more sensitive.Therefore,the red iron oxide powder can be applied alone as the material for latent fingerprint development,and can be applied in the fingerprint development of the relatively fresh sebum or grease fingerprints on the surface of the non-permeable objects.This is applicable generally in judicial practice.
