Road Performance of Emulsified Asphalt Cold Recycled Mixture with Red Mud Based Geopolymer
To prolong the service life of roads, improve the road performance of emulsified asphalt cold recycled mixtures, and promote the recycling and utilization of solid waste resources, this paper used the red mud geopolymer as a modifier and determined its optimum dosage in the cold recycled mixture by considering raw material, geopolymer ratio, and dosage. The road performance of the emulsified asphalt cold recycled mixture with the red mud based geopolymer was comprehensively evaluated via the immersion Marshall test, rutting test, beam bending test, and uniaxial penetration test. The results showed that the red mud based geopolymer's optimum molar ratio was 1.4 and the optimum dosage in the emulsified asphalt cold recycled mixture was 1.5%.After the modification of the mixture, the water damage resistance was improved by 7%,the high-temperature rutting resistance was improved by 42.5%,and the shear resistance was enhanced, however, there was damage to low-temperature crack resistance, indicating that the modified mixture was more suitable for areas with high temperatures and heavy loads.
