Application of Lightweight Foamed Soil in Bridge-to-Road Transformation Scheme for Expressways
Based on a bridge-to-road transformation project on a mountainous expressway,by comparing the pros and cons of existing bridge schemes,the bridge-to-ordinary soil filling embankment transformation scheme,and the bridge-to-lightweight foamed soil filling embankment transformation scheme,it is concluded that the bridge-to-road transformation has great economical benefits.Filling lightweight foamed soil at the bridgehead offers advantages such as reducing settlement,reducing lateral pressure,reducing vehicle bumps at the bridgehead,reducing permanent land use,and accelerating construction speed.This paper introduces the design considerations for the lightweight foamed soil for bridgeheads,which provides experience for similar bridge-to-road transformation schemes.
