Experimental Study of Performance of Over-wet Soil Subgrde Filler Treated with Quick Lime and Cement
To improve the performance of the over-wet soil subgrade filler, using quick lime and cement as the modifiers, the performance of the modified over-wet soil subgrade filler was compared and studied by experiments. The results showed that compared with plain over-wet soil, the optimum water content, unconfined compressive strength, and resilience modulus of the modified over-wet soil were improved and increased with the increase of the content of quick lime or cement.Although the CBR value of the over-wet soil treated with quick lime was improved,it still could not meet the specification requirements of subgrade fillers for class-1 highways and expressways. The CBR value of the cement-treated over-wet soil was significantly increased and met the specification requirements. The optimum water content of over-wet soil treated with quick lime was higher than that treated with cement, however, the cement-treated over-wet soil had better CBR value, unconfined compressive strength, and resilience modulus.
