Properties of Organic Montmorillonite/Polyvinyl Chloride Nanocomposite Modified Asphalt
To reduce the agglomeration of nanocomposites and fully release the modification effect of nanocomposites on asphalt, the organic montmorillonite(O-MMT)/polyvinyl chloride(PVC)nanocomposite was prepared by co-extrusion process to modify the asphalt, and its structural and thermal properties, microstructure in asphalt, and effect on the macro properties of modified asphalt were studied.Through analysis of X-ray diffraction(XRD),differential calorimetric scanning(DCS),and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer(FTIR),it was found that the composite is an exfoliated nanocomposite, and the addition of O-MMT allowed the PVC to be better dispersed in matrix asphalt, which improves the compatibility of the modified asphalt. The high-temperature storage property of the modified asphalt was good when the O-MMT dosage was low in the O-MMT/PVC nanocomposite. The pre-dispersion of O-MMT nanocomposite in the polymer avoids the agglomeration of the nanocomposite in asphalt and fully utilizes the nano-effect,improving the properties of the modified asphalt.
