Frost Heaving Force Analysis of Surrounding Rocks of Tunnels in Cold Regions under Freeze-thaw Cycles
Frost heaving force of the surrounding rock is the root of the external force of tunnels'frost damage in cold regions, and the existing calculation method neglects the deterioration effect of freeze-thaw cycles on the mechanical parameters of the rock and is difficult to analyze the variation trend of the frost heaving force under the freeze-thaw cycles. On this basis, this paper built the theoretical model of the frost heaving force of surrounding rock at the frost state, proposed calculation formulas for the micro-crack expansion length considering the water migration inside the rock cracking, modified the correlations between the rock elastic modulus, frost heaving rate and number of freeze-thaw cycles, and established the theoretical solution of frost heaving force of surrounding rock of tunnels in cold regions considering freeze-thaw cycles. The results showed that with the increasing number of freeze-thaw cycles, the frost heaving force continuously increased and tended to be stable, and the analysis method in this paper is more reasonable than the existing theoretical solutions. The study results can provide vital theoretical references for the construction and safety operation of tunnel engineering in cold regions.
