Road Performance of High-modulus Natural Asphalt Mixtures in Ningxia Region
To solve the severe pavement rutting diseases in heavy transportation road sections, this paper studied the road performance of the high-modulus natural asphalt mixtures based on the durable asphalt pavement experimental section in Ningxia Haiping Expressway.Selecting the HMB-W high-modulus natural asphalt as the study objective, the mix proportion of EME-20 was designed with the Marshall method to analyze the physical properties. The differences in the road performance between EME-20,SBS-AC-20,and the Shell matrix asphalt AC-20 were compared using indoor tests of high temperature, low temperature, water stability, and fatigue behavior. Finally, the applicability of EME-20 was verified by paving the experimental section. The results showed that the asphalt-aggregate ratio and stability of EME-20 were significantly higher than those of SBS-AC-20 and Shell AC-20.The dynamic stability, residual stability,freeze-thaw splitting strength, and fatigue life of EME-20 were higher than those of SBS-AC-20 by 27.5%,6.47%,2.82%,and 27.3%,and higher than those of Shell AC-20 by 122.3%,35.4%,7.63%,and 40.3%,respectively.However,the maximum bending strain of EME-20 was lower than that of SBS-AC-20 by 10%and higher than that of Shell AC-20 by 11.04%.Besides,the EME-20 experimental road section's compaction and impermeability met the specification requirements.
