Project-Based Learning in Grade Four Mathematics:Development,Design and Reflection——Take"Mathematical Thinking about the Average Pace Problem"as an Example
The Compulsory Education Mathematics Curriculum Standards(2022 edition)proposes that interdisciplinary thematic learning should be given priority, thematic learning and project-based learning methods should be appropriately adopted, and real and complex problems should be designed.Project-based learning and the"interdisciplinary"emphasized in the areas of conception, synthesis and practice of core competencies are coherent and full of space for exploration.Based on the concepts of cross-disciplinary and literacy orientation, this study developed and designed a primary school mathematics project-based learning activity-"Math Problems in Average Pace",hoping to provide some reference for the development of project activities for primary school mathematics teachers.Specifically,it includes:formulating themes and goals, assigning preparatory homework, introducing problem situations, designing practical activities,multi-disciplinary integrated learning, summary and evaluation, etc.Reflections and suggestions on the project activities are as follows:(1)In terms of design, the project theme should be clear, based on the cognitive rules of the students at this stage of schooling, and have the application and expansion value;(2)During implementation, the project should be fully preset in the classroom problems that are likely to arise during implementation,so as to optimize the project design and advocate the flexible implementation of the project;(3)On the whole, teachers and students should enhance the joint construction of subject knowledge and form a mathematical perspective.
