Rethinking Mathematics Education Together——A Report of the 47th Conference of the International Group for the Psychology of Mathematics Education
The 47th Conference of the International Group for the Psychology of Mathematics Education(PME47)was held in Auckland,New Zealand,from July 17th to 21st,2024.The conference conducted in-depth and extensive research and discussions centered on the theme of Rethinking mathematics education together.The plenary lectures revolved around topics such as professional development,curriculum resources,teacher instruction and student learning,mathematical problem-solving,and mathematical proof.The personal presentations focused on nine aspects,including mathematical literacy,mathematics teaching and learning in traditional fields,and professional development.In the information and communication technology era,the conference highlighted traditional mathematics teaching and learning,the development of interdisciplinary skills,STEM education,and information literacy.This inspires the integration of tradition and innovation in our mathematics education and research,aiming to promote the comprehensive development of students and cultivate students'core competencies.Additionally,the collaboration between teachers and researchers in cooperative learning and professional development is emphasized.Such collaboration helps to reconstruct the relationship between teachers and researchers,achieving consistency in research,teaching,and learning,and fostering the professional growth of mathematics educators.
