Investigations of Terrestrial Wildlife Resources in Tongbai Mountains
A comprehensive survey of wildlife resources was conducted in the Tongbai Mountains re-gion(geographic unit Ma02-1).A total of 39 standard survey plots of 10 km × 10 km were estab-lished,and standard methods and techniques were applied.This included the setting up of 50 bird and mammal transect lines and 150 sampling points in both winter and summer,150 amphibians transect lines,and 150 reptile sampling plots.These were used to investigate four major groups of organisms in the region:birds,mammals,reptiles,and amphibians.The results revealed that the region is home to 139 species of birds(belonging to 15 orders and 43 families),7 species of mammals(belonging to 4 orders and 7 families),6 species of amphibians(belonging to 1 order and 4 families),and 9 species of reptiles(belonging to 1 order and 4 families).Among them,there is 1 species of nationally protected animal at the first level(a bird species)and 11 species at the second level(including 8 bird species and 3 mammal species).
