A Study Based on the Incident of a Wild Giant Panda Biting a Ranger
Incidents of wild giant pandas injuring humans occur occasionally.By comparing three cases of wild giant pandas biting humans, this study focused on the first case where a wild giant panda at-tacked and injured a ranger. It explored the aggressive motives and stress behaviors of the giant panda species,as well as strategies to prevent attacks from large ferocious animals. The result showed that the giant panda's aggressive behaviors such as roaring, chasing, and biting are motivated by the pro-tection of its cubs and territory, and biting humans is a defensive behavior and stress response. This paper puts forward practical suggestions for preventing attacks by wild animals, aiming to provide a basis for the study of field animal behavior ecology and the safety assurance of fieldwork.
