Impact of Human Activities on Habitat of Forest Musk Deer in Shaanxi Niubeiliang Nature Reserve of Qinling Mountains
To investigate the impact of human activities on the habitat of forest musk deer(Moschus berezovskii)in the Niubeiliang Nature Reserve in the Qinling Mountains,a survey and research by setting up sample plots and transects was conducted. The survey collected data converning the habitat range of forest musk deer, ecological factors, traces of human activities, and animal activity near roads. The results showed that the forest musk deer habitat in the Niubeiliang Nature Reserve was di-vided into several distribution areas:Huanghualing,Tuliuzi,Dayandonggou Yingzuishi,Shibianyu,Heiyaogou, and Xiangou. The 210 and 211 National Highways initially divided the reserve into east-ern and western sections, and subsequent human disturbances further resulted in the formation of six dense distribution areas for forest musk deer. The above results indicate that the forest musk deer habitat in the Niubeiliang Nature Reserve is distributed in a fragmented pattern, with human disturb-ances and road construction being the primary factors contributing to this situation.
