Effects of Influencing Factors on Rooting of Cutting of Chrysanthemum for Tea
Cuttage is the main propagation method of Chrysanthemum for tea.In order to put forward the simple, economic and effective cutting propagation method, the greenhouse trials were conducted with "Yu Mei Ren",one strain of the Chrysanthemum, and several influencing factors were studied, including different stem cuttings, different cutting substrates and branches collected from different developmental stages of Chrysanthemum morifolium. The internal soluble sugar and total nitrogen content of samples were measured to study the rooting mechanism of branches collected from different developmental stages. The results indicated that the cuttings collected from the top branches in fullbloom stage were the best choice for cutting propagation in which the leaf number, leaf length and root length of cuttings were significantly higher than other treatments. The substrate with sands could significantly improve rooting rate and shorten rooting time.Different developmental stages from which the cutting branches were collected affected the effectiveness of the cuttage. The suckers collected from stock plants were the best one, followed by cuttings collected from bud stage and flowering stage, and the cuttings collected from the late flowering stage were the worst. The descending trend of soluble sugars in branches of different developmental stages from high to low was:suckers > branches of flowering stage > branches of late flowering stage > branches of bud stage. The total nitrogen content descending trend from high to low was:suckers > branches of bud stage > branches of flowering stage > branches of late flowering stage. The C / N ratio from high to low was..suckers > branches of flowering stage > branches of late flowering stage > branches of bud stage. The C / N ratio was not suitable to judge rooting rate of Chrysanthemum for tea.
