Effects of UV-C radiation on Chardonnay fruit quality and photosynthetic physiology of grape leaves
[Objective]The effect of UV-C on the fruit quality formation and photosynthetic physiology of grape leaves during berry development were studied.[Methods]In this paper, the 8-year old grapevines of Chardonnay were subjected to regular UV-C radiation during berry development. The single berry weight, horizontal diameter, longitudinal diameteand, the soluble sugar, the organic acid,Vc and chlorophyll were measured.[Results]The result showed:with grape berry growth, ultraviolet radiation, not change single berry weight, horizontal diameter and longitudinal diameter growth rule and accumulation of soluble sugar and organic acid. And UV-C radiation didn't significantly alter the palisade tissue / spongy tissue structure of leaves of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, but significant affected the internal fruit quality and promoted the increase of chlorophyll content and photosynthetic rate.UV-C radiation increased the soluble sugar content 3.25 % (20 days after bloom),8.27 % (80 days after bloom),respectively;reduced the organic acid content 34.18% (80 days after bloom);and in the fruit maturation period,Vc contents in the fruits decreased, reduce 5.89% (80 days after bloom);chlorophyll and photosynthetic rate increased 23.87%,139.24%,respectively.[Conclusion]Results of the study indicated that the UV-C radiation could induce the soluble sugar, the organic acid and chlorophyll, and resulted in the increase of internal fruit quality.
