The relationship between crops root and aggregate stability of red soil in sloping arable land
[Objective]In order to invest the difference of soil structure stability under different planting patterns of crops,as well as the relationship between root and percentage of aggregate destruction.[Methods]The research adopt-ed the monocultures of flue-cured tobacco, maize, soybean, and potato, and intercropping of maize + soybean and maize + potato, determining the water stable aggregates, percentage of aggregate destruction, root system character-istics,analyzed the relationship between different crops root characteristics and percentage of aggregate destruction. [Result]The result showed that under the condition of the routine management,in 0-10 cm soil layer, the number of >0.25 mm water stable aggregated maize intercropping soybean compared with soybean monoculture, maize monoculture was increased by 29.58% and 66.01%,in 10-20 cm soil layer, the number of > 0.25 mm water stable aggregated maize intercropping soybean compared with maize monoculture was increased by 42.28%;in 0-10 cm soil layer, the soil anti-erodibility index of intercropping pattern was significantly greater than monoculture pattern, the ability of soil par-ticle to resist dispersion was high;the percentage of aggregate destruction of maize intercropping soybean compared with than maize monoculture and soybean monoculture was reduced by 42.22% and 26.40%,maize intercropping po-tato compared with maize monoculture and potato monoculture was reduced by 35.71%和 32.88%.In 10-20 cm soil layer, the percentage of aggregate destruction of maize intercropping soybean compared with than soybean monoculture and maize monoculture was reduced by 16.67% and 22.75%;compared with the monoculture, the crop root length, root surface area and root volume in intercropping pattern were significantly improved and was negatively correlated with the percentage of aggregate destruction.[Conclusion]Thus, maize intercropping soybean and maize intercropping potato could optimize crop root characteristics, reduced the damage rate of aggregate, improved the stability of aggre-gates,and contributed to the conservation of water and soil.
