The impact of seedling differentiation on the biomass allocation of Pinusyunnanensis
[Objectives] T he aim of present study were to reveal the impacts of seedling differentiation on the biomass al-location by analyzing the investment and allocation strategies of biomass of two-year-old seedlings of Pinusyunnanensis at six different classes .[M ethods]P.yunnanensis seedlings were divided into six different classes to reveal the impacts of seedling differentiation on the biomass allocation .[Results] T he results showed that the biomass investment of seed-ling was following the order of leaf> stem> root .With the decrease of seedling class ,the biomass of individual plant , aboveground part ,and each component of plants was decreased too ,w hile the relative proportions of leaves biomass was increased and stem biomass was decreased gradually ,and the ratios of leaf to steam and photosynthetic to non-photosyn-thetic organs were increased gradually .No significant difference of the root shoot biomass ratio between different seed-ling classes was detected .M eanw hile ,moisture content of individual plant including aboveground and each component were increased weakly w hen the seedling class level was decreased ,but there was no significant difference between the seedling classes .[Conclusion] Seedlings of P.yunnanensis displayed different biomass allocation strategies in different classes .T he priority allocation of biomass was made to leaves in lower seedling class and the biomass allocation percent-age to stem was increased gradually with the increase of seedling class .
