The effect of different planting densities on the quality and yield of'Datong Huanghua'
[Objective]The current study was designed to optimize planting density for'Datong Huanghua'daylilies to increase yield, and provide technical guidance for the high-quality development of the local daylily industry.[Method]Five planting den-sities were tested using'Datong Huanghua'as the experimental material:T1(25 019 holes/hm2),T2(20 009 holes/hm2),T3(16 679 holes/hm2),T4(14 294 holes/hm2),and T5(12 509 holes/hm2).The effects of different planting densities on growth, photosynthetic parameters, quality, and yield were analyzed.[Results](1)Plant height and crown width initially in-creased and then decreased with higher planting density.T3 exhibited the greatest plant height(46.7 cm),which was 7.03%higher than T1,which had the lowest.(2)T3 showed the highest net photosynthetic rate at 2.34 μmol/(m2·s),significantly high-er than other treatments.(3)T3 also achieved the highest levels of processing vitamin C(33.99 mg/100 g),total phenols(0.38 mg/g),β-carotene(11.64 μg/g),and free amino acids(11.54 mg/g),significantly higher than T1 and T5.(4)T3 had the highest average number of flower stems per hole(5),with an average of 12 flower buds per stem. The average weight of a single flower was 4.47 g,and the yield reached 4 594.50 kg/hm2,significantly higher than other treatments.T4 followed with a yield of 3 819.90 kg/hm2.[Conclusion]Planting density influenced the growth, photosynthetic characteristics, yield, and quality of daylilies.Among the treatments,T3(16 679 holes/hm2)showed significant advantages, making it the most suit-able for high-yield cultivation.
