In 1965 Guo Moruo claimed in an article that Lantingxu was not written by Wang Xizhi,while Gao Ershi and Yan Beiming did not agree with Mr.Guo.The essential divergence among them was that Mr.Gao and Mr.Yan could not adhere to the dialect materialism and make much of objective things,so they couldn't find out objective laws at last.According to the style of calligraphy,Lantingxu was the new style—Xingshu scripts,while Wang Xizhi belonged to the conservatives.Therefore,it was impossible for Wang Xizhi to write new style Lantingxu.There were not new calligraphy schools in the time of the Eastern Jin Dynasty and early periods of the Southern and Northern dynasties,but the extant Lantingxu was different from copybooks of the South Dynasties and inscriptions of the Northern dynasties.Thus it is reasonable that Lantingxu was not written by Wang Xizhi.
