The development of open-pit mine not only brings huge economic benefits, but also causes serious soil erosion, and soil and water conservation supervision is an effective measure to prevent soil erosion. This paper analyzes the sources and impacts of soil and water loss during the construction and production process of mining projects based on the characteristics of open-pit mineral resource development. The regulatory approaches for soil and water conservation in open-pit mines has been proposed from the aspects of plan approval, subsequent design, soil and water conservation monitoring, and departmental linkage, effectively controlling soil and water loss and generating good ecological, economic, and social benefits.
